Corbett National Park situated in the Ram Nagar area of the Indian state Uttarakhand. It is approx. 250 km from Delhi and is one of India’s prime wildlife reserves. Established in 1936 by Jim Corbet as Hailey National Park, the park was renamed in his honor later on. It is one of Himalayan India’s vast expanses of wilderness. Jungle Safaris are allowed only in selected areas of Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people can enjoy its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife living here. Spread over an extent of approx. 520 sq km, its total area comprises of hills, grasslands, and a large lake... If you are an ornithologist you could come across 580 species of birds including waterfowl, 17 types of woodpecker, peafowl, raptors like the Pallas fishing eagle, harries and kites, minivets, cuckoos, drongos, red jungle fowl, shrikes, and barbets. You also get to see a fine reservoir on the river formed with the building of a dam at Kalagarh, which now attracts diverse species of water birds - both local and migratory.
In recent years Corbett has the highest density of the population of Tigers. The number of tourists coming here has increased dramatically from a few years. By Road: Ramnagar is well connected by road with all the cities of North India. Uttarakhand govt. plies buses at a regular interval from Delhi, Haldwani, Nainital, and Moradabad that reaches Corbett directly.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is in Ramnagar receives trains from Delhi, Moradabad, and Bareilly. Direct trains are available from Delhi to Ramnagar like Ranikhet Express, Corbett Link Express, and Kathgodam Express.
By Air: The nearest airport is situated at Pant Nagar, 80-km southeast.
